Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (dTMS)

CBH is always on the cutting edge of Mental Health technology and currently offers a new treatment for treatment resistant depression: Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.

dTMS is a non-invasive treatment which stimulates the brain region responsible for depression and brings significant improvement to patients. It is an outpatient procedure which does not require hospitalization or anesthesia, and entails no memory loss or systemic side effects.

dTMS sessions integrate into the patient's routine.
In each session, the patient is comfortably seated on a chair, and a cushioned helmet is gently placed over the head. The helmet generates brief magnetic fields.
These magnetic fields briefly stimulate the targeted brain area and improve depressive symptoms.
The procedure requires daily sessions (Monday through Friday) of 20 minutes over 3 weeks. After each session, patients can return home independently, and follow through their normal daily routine.

TMS is only provided to individuals who have failed at least 2 antidepressant trials and meet criteria for severe major depressive disorder. TMS is not recommended for anyone with active substance use issues, receiving benzodiazepines, or someone with intracranial metal implants.

Community Behavioral Health's dTMS suite is conveniently located at 821 Eastern Shore Drive Salisbury, MD and 8614 Ocean Gateway, Easton MD.
